Sunseekers

For this project, I drew inspiration from the symbolism of the sun and the freedom of surfing. The sun, as the source of all energy, represents inner radiance and positive thinking – a light that guides us even through the biggest waves of life. In the illustrations, featuring women surfing, this idea is taken further: each figure has the sun as their head, surrounded by lush plants, reflecting the connection between the natural world and our own energy.

The women riding the waves symbolize strength, independence, and the freedom to embrace the power of the ocean – much like the unwavering, positive light of the sun that encourages us to live in harmony with ourselves and nature. The plants framing the sun-heads represent growth, vitality, and the harmony that arises when we focus on what truly matters: the balance between ourselves and the world around us.

Through these illustrations, I aimed to capture the moment of merging with the waves – the movement, the energy, and the sense of liberation found both in surfing and in life itself. The sun as a head serves as a reminder to always seek the positive, even in the most challenging times, while the plants symbolize continuous growth and the natural beauty inherent in us all.

This collection celebrates the connection between humans, nature, and light, inviting viewers to live life with the same courage, lightness, and positive outlook as a surfer riding the untamed waves.
